The Adventures of Jasper combines my love of Siberian Huskies with my passion for comics, specifically European comics in the clear-line style pioneered many decades ago by Belgium's Hergé, the creator of Tintin. I remember when I discovered Tintin in the school library at the age of 9. I devoured them! I loved his realistic artwork and the humour in his characters. They inspired me to create my own comics that I worked on in my spare time all the way through High School. My early comic work helped land my first job as a trainee layout artist with an animation company in Sydney Australia, over 30 years ago.
In 1994 my partner Kay, also an animation artist and painter, and I moved to Canada with our first Husky, named Ruby. Since 1995 we've worked from our home based studio in the wilds of East Sooke BC, creating storyboards and designs for animation companies in Canada, the U.S. and Australia. Disney TV, Warner Bros., Hanna Barbera, Nelvana, Nickelodeon and Atomic Cartoons are just some of the studios we've worked for over that time. We also added to our team of Huskies over the years, fostering (which to us usually means keeping) dogs from northern breed rescue groups. This is obviously where the inspiration for my comic Jasper comes from.
